HEIC to JPG Converter

Free HEIC to JPG converter. Turn iPhone HEIC photos into JPG images that open everywhere. Fully private in-browser conversion, no signup required.

About this tool

iPhones save photos as HEIC files, a modern format that Windows PCs, older software and many websites cannot open. Converting HEIC to JPG makes your photos work everywhere, from email attachments to upload forms.

This free tool converts your HEIC photos right in the browser. Nothing is uploaded to any server, so your files never leave your device. Your personal photos stay personal.

How to use

Choose a HEIC photo from your device, usually from your iPhone's photo library, and click Convert to JPG. The tool decodes the HEIC image and produces a high-quality JPEG you can download immediately.

The JPG opens on any device and uploads anywhere. Convert one photo at a time; each conversion takes only a few seconds depending on the photo's size.

The math behind it

HEIC is based on the HEIF container using HEVC video compression tricks for still images. It stores photos very efficiently, but support outside the Apple ecosystem is patchy. JPEG, by contrast, is understood by every device made in the last thirty years.

The tool decodes the HEIC data into raw pixels in your browser, then re-encodes those pixels as a JPEG at 90 percent quality. Resolution is preserved fully; only the container changes, from Apple's efficient-but-incompatible format to the universal one.

Frequently asked questions

What is a HEIC file?
HEIC is the default photo format on iPhones since iOS 11. It produces smaller files than JPG at similar quality by using advanced compression. The downside is compatibility: many Windows programs, websites and older devices cannot open HEIC files, which is why converting to JPG is so commonly needed.
Will conversion reduce my photo quality?
Barely. The tool converts at 90 percent JPEG quality, which preserves virtually all visible detail from the original photo. You would need to zoom in extremely close to spot any difference. For sharing, printing and archiving, the JPG is effectively identical.
Can I convert multiple HEIC photos at once?
This tool converts one photo per click to keep things fast and reliable in the browser. For a whole album, convert each photo in turn; it only takes a few seconds each. If you regularly shoot in HEIC, you can also switch your iPhone camera settings to save as JPG directly.
