PDF to JPG

Free PDF to JPG converter. Turn the first page of any PDF into a high-quality JPG image instantly in your browser. Private and fast, no signup.

About this tool

Sometimes you need a PDF page as a picture: for a thumbnail, a slide, a social post or a quick preview. This free tool renders the first page of any PDF into a high-quality JPG image in seconds.

Like all our file tools, everything happens locally in your browser. Your PDF is never uploaded anywhere, so your files never leave your device. There are no watermarks, no signups and no limits.

How to use

Click the file button and choose any PDF from your device. Click Convert First Page to JPG and the tool renders page one at double resolution for crisp quality. A download link appears immediately.

The result is a standard JPG you can share, embed or edit anywhere. If you need a different page, reorder your PDF so the page you want is first, or use our PDF merger to build a new file first.

The math behind it

PDF pages are not images; they are instructions for drawing text, shapes and pictures. This tool uses the same rendering engine as modern PDF viewers to draw page one onto an invisible canvas at twice the normal size, then saves that canvas as a JPEG photograph.

Rendering at double scale is the trick to sharpness. A page drawn at 200 percent and saved as JPG looks clean even when zoomed, while a 1x render would look blurry on today's high-resolution screens.

Frequently asked questions

Why does it only convert the first page?
Rendering every page of a large PDF in the browser can be slow and memory-heavy, so this tool focuses on the most common need: grabbing page one as an image. For documents where you need several pages as images, convert the pages you need one file at a time, or split the PDF first and convert each part.
Will the JPG be high quality?
Yes. The page is rendered at double resolution before being saved as a JPEG at 92 percent quality, which keeps text sharp and colors accurate. The image is more than good enough for presentations, thumbnails and web use. For print-quality output you would need a desktop PDF tool.
Does it work with scanned PDFs?
Yes. Scanned PDFs are really just images wrapped in a PDF container, and this tool renders whatever the page contains, text or scans alike. Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened, so remove the password first with a desktop tool if you need to convert one.
